Awesome Mrs Sidhwa
Last week Mrs Sidhwa came into our class for chocolate cake!!!! I was just joking about that, because we didn't have the mixture.
The reason why she came in was that she wanted to show us old-fashioned things from her family. She was born in Iran and she lived in a cool house.
My favourite part was the toy car that was a ferrari.

Mrs Sidhwa
Earlier this week Mrs Sidhwa came into our class to introduce herself to us. We learnt that she came from Iran. Next she showed us a bag full of all her special things. One of her special things were different type of sand from beaches and deserts. There was also a pop up book about computers. She also had a doll she said whenever her daughter asked to play with her doll she always said no this is my doll.
Hope she comes again !!!!!!!!!
Moving the Furniture by Emma and Christine
The day before yesterday, Room 30 received some new tables. They are very colourful and bright. Some people were not happy about moving their old desks but some people were very excited and amazed that we are going to have brand new tables.
Miss Lankow explained that we will have our own toke trays! This time there were lots of happy people. But she said that we had to move every desk ourselves. Miss Lankow said that we had to look for amazingly nice table so we can keep them incase. We found 8 wonderful desks. We had to carry lots of things in and out the classroom.
We had 5 blue tables, 1red table, and 2 yellow tables. That is 8 tables! We are very strong. Our results were great but we ended up with a small mat space to sit on. First we carried our tables into a sort of puzzle shape, then we rearranged them into what it is now.
We kept all our benches and it was rearranged as well! We are very happy of what it looks like now.
We think nobody will want to change it in our class because nobody moans about how they work.
Miss Lankow still moves the desks but it looks quite the same.
We really like our new looking classroom very much!

The Splendid Mrs Sidhwa
Earlier today Mrs Sidhwa came to Room 30 to show us some of her special things. Some of these were from when she was little and some were from when she was older.
First she showed us on the world map where she was from and where she has travelled to. She is from Iran and has been to India and America and now she is here!
Then she showed us a picture with the different colours of the sand in her country. It was really cool because all the colours were staying in the same order. We think it was glass keeping it in place.
We saw her doll from when she was one year old. She never lets anyone touch it or play with it because it is very special. It was dressed in a traditional Iranian dress, which Mrs Sidhwa said was her favourite.
She showed us her alarm clock from when she was little. It's not what you think an alarm clock looks like!
She told us she was nutty because she likes all different kinds of nuts. We even saw the nutcracker that she used in Iran.
We also heard about her children and their special things.
Mrs Sidhwa is a fantastic person and she makes us laugh. We are very lucky to have her as our neighbour!

Making Rat traps at technology
Last week in term 1 at Point View School Room 30 went to technology. We made rat traps for the Coromandel Kiwi witch is New Zealand's most endanged bird. first we mesured
wood that had to be at least Thirty centimetres long. Then we sawed the wood in half three times. Next used a hot glue gun to stick all three sides together. finally we did the trapdoor we used a staple gun as the lock with a Nail to lock it in with to staple guns at the top. In total we made 32 mouse traps in 2 days!!!!! I hope we still hold the record.
The water cycle
We are learning about the water cycle, how it rains and where the rain comes from. Our teacher handed The teacher gave us a worksheet and we did 5 labels on the mat and the rest we had to do with a partner. We went on our wiki and went on this website about the water cycle.
It took us a long time to find where the words belong, it was easier when our teacher ( Miss L) wrote the labels on the board and we had to figure out where it was suppose to be.
At last we finish the worksheet and gave it to the teacher. We got one the wrong way round.

What do you know about the water cycle?
Today we are starting an investigation into the water cycle. Most of us haven't got a clue what this is about. So we're going to think about a few things...
Where does the water go when it rains?
Where does the water go when it rains?
- into the drains (Lucy)
- into the sea (Cameron)
- gets washed and is reused (Keshav)
- roots pick the water up and so do the leaves on plants (Emma)
- it can be collected in a cup (Sam)
- drips off an umbrella or roof (Niall)
- falls onto the ground and the wind pushes it to the drain (Behzad)
- drips into your mouth (Luke)
- makes puddles on the street (Christine)
- falls into a water tank (Josh)
Where does all the water that is up in the sky come from?
- from the clouds (Ethan)
- from the sea - evaporates (Steven)
- the wind is really cold and turns into water (Kaitlyn)
- rain comes from the clouds (Meah)
- when the clouds melt (Terence)
- it evaporates from the ocean in teeny tiny drops which become big again and it rains (Alisha)
We've got lots to learn!
